Canine Good Citizen | Therapy Dog Training

Our services are designed to help with a wide variety of behavioral problems including:

Private Lessons ($100) per lesson

Are you more of a “Do it Yourself” kind of person? Do you have only specific skills or issues with your dog that you need to address? If so, than our Private Lesson options are just what you want. One of our trainers can come to your home. You tell us what you and your dog need to work on, and we will give you expert dog training skills and advice. We will tailor a personalized dog training program for you based on your goals and objectives.


Group Lesson (basic) - $110/5 weeks

Group dog training classes provide the unique benefit s of socialization with other dogs and people. Group classes are informative and educations, while exposing your dog to being in an environment around new dogs and people.

Currently only group lessons are held through Elk Grove Parks and Recreation and must be booked through their website.


Group Lesson (Advanced) - $110/5 weeks

Prerequisite: Basic Obedience Class

The advanced class is structured to prepare student for the Canine Good Citizenship Test. This class may include increased distractions when working on commands (Sit, Down, Recalls, leash walking, while a stranger approaches and asks to pet your dog (goal is to hold the command and not jump for petting).

Class is not appropriate for dogs with Dog/Dog or Dog/People aggression issues.




Therapy Dog training - $100 per lesson

Therapy Dogs are pets trained to visit with people who need comfort and are permitted to enter facilities such as schools, hospitals, and nursing home, with permission from the facility.  Therapy dogs do not have public access rights.  Certification is usually required through a national or local organization. Many people confuse Therapy Animals with Service Dogs. The primary purpose of a therapy dog is to provide affection and comfort to people in hospitals, retirement homes, nursing homes, schools, hospices, disaster areas.

 Emotional Support Dogs (ESA) do not require training or certification as their only job is to make their owner feel better.  They do not have public access rights.  If the owner has a medical notice stating they need the dog, they may be permitted in housing and flights where pets are not usually allowed.


Pet First Aid

Pet Saver Class - 8 hour - $110
CPR/First Aid Class - 5 hour - $75

Pet First Aid courses teach you valuable skills to care for sick or injured pets, including:

  • Rescue Breathing

  • CPR

  • Bleeding/Wound Management & Wrapping

  • Shock Treatment

  • Poison Management

  • Heat/Cold Injuries

  • Vitals, such as heart rate and temperature

  • Snout to Tail Assessment

Our Pet First Aid & CPR classes are taught following the guidelines of Pet Tech, the leader in pet first aid & CPR classes nationwide. Upon completion of the class, you will receive a certificate, good for two years.

WHO should learn Pet CPR & First Aid?
Any pet owner or pet care professional who works in the pet care field. For example: groomers, dog trainers, or rescue groups.

WHEN should I learn Pet CPR & First Aid?
Right now! While we all hope that no accidents or emergencies happen to our beloved pets, chances are, something will happen in their lifetime. We want you to be prepared and feel confident should a pet need help.


Canine Good Citizen - $125/4 weeks

Note: Price does not include testing fee.

This is designed to prepare companions for the CGC test. The CGC program promotes responsible dog ownership and encourages the training of well-mannered dogs.

The CGC builds on the basics and helps to fine tune crucial skills like sit, wait, and come. We will work on improving your dog’s behavior during grooming and around distractions. Your dog should be able to appropriately greet a person or another dog and walk politely on leash past distractions.
